Precision Parts - Clamping Levers

Clamping Levers Case Study

Customer Complaint about Clamping Lever:
The customer purchased the parts as spare parts in October 2024. After installation and use in March 2025, it broke (as shown in the picture).

Cause Analysis and Investigation
Upon receiving the complaint, we immediately launched a full-process check:
1. Verification of Processing Records
 • Focus on checking whether there were any hole position deviations in the programming drawing and processing technology (EDM wire cutting).
 • Conclusion: The dimensions and accuracy met the drawing requirements, with no abnormalities in the processing link.
2. Heat Treatment Process Verification
 • Was the heat treatment method bright hardening (easy to be brittle) or vacuum quenching + triple tempering (high toughness)?
 • Confirmed that the latter was used, with process parameters meeting standards, excluding the possibility of heat treatment brittleness.
3. SKD11 Material Analysis: Conducted spectral analysis on the fractured part and found that the molybdenum (Mo) and vanadium (V) content in the SKD11 material was far lower than the standard values, resulting in insufficient material toughness.

Solutions
1. Immediately replace with SKD11 material, which has a high content of molybdenum (Mo) and vanadium (V), for re-manufacturing..
2. Prioritize replenishing the corresponding order quantities and track the delivery progress throughout the process.

Feedback on Results
After acceptance, the customer confirmed satisfactory usage results and expressed high recognition for our rapid response and problem-solving capabilities.
